I've reached the 85MPH mark. Not many roads around here where I can really push it more. Added a K&N Air Filter a couple of weeks ago. Want to see how fast she really can go now. Post back when I do.

i finally got it past 90 mph this week, i added the k&n filter and can really tell the difference on the highway especially.
92mph is as high as i can get it on the highways around me..believe me id love to hit the 100 line but im not too comfortable with it yet to do that. |

Go to 'Top Speed Limiter' forum, where tales of top speed are told, under the guise of checking out if the car has a limiter. It seems the wide open spaces of Canada(most posts are km/h)just bring out the "how fast will she go?" crowd.
Speed enforcement, btw, is overzealous and extreme in this area. Getting caught at 190km/h would not be, as Martha would say, a good thing. |

I live in the Chicago area. Not alot of open roads in or around the city. You pretty much have to be driving at 2:00 in the morning for the roads to be empty. The cops around here don't let you get away with anything. They pull you over and set up road blocks for not wearing your seat belts. So it's not the fear of the speed but the cost of the ticket.

I've had mine up to 116mph, and couldn't go any further.
It seems there is a horrible wind noise at about 110mph though. Iv'e also noticed that noise on really windy days to going about 60-70mph. has anyone else noticed it too? And yes, I agree with the person who said the only way to go through Chicago highways is at 2am, I live in Wi. and go to Chicago now and then and know exactly what your talking about. I was once heading to Skokie for an 9am appiontment and was stuck in morning rush hour all the way back to Gurnee!!!!!! |

Ditto, snova. I've tried 100mph briefly on an lonely interstate, but honestly I don't feel comfortable over 80. It seemed to be the car started to get a little weird above that but maybe I'm just not used to it.

93 MPH (approx) on a highway, for a few sec. hardly felt the car shake or shudder.
I think that's all I plan on testing the speed of my GT. Of course, in Jersey, 75 is keeping up with traffic, on the slow end. The one,

193 kph before the speed limiter kicked in. Car felt nice and solid. Backed off to 190 and tried a couple of lane changes, car still felt solid. Steering effort is much higher at that speed, Hyundai did a nice job of the variable power assist.
Wasn't quite at 5k rpm, still lots left |

I recently drove on some hilly gravel roads on my GT and I barely managed 40mph for fear the paint on my car would be stripped off. I also just finished watching the Rally of Finland. Watching Ford Focuses and Hyundai Accents go 120mph on a one-lane gravel and dirt road and jumping literally 5 feet in the air over the hills, made me realize what they have that I don't. Mudguards. How much are they?

I used to drive 60 to 70 mph on logging roads in my Datsun 510, I can't image putting another 50 to 60 mph on top of that... I was at the end of my courage at 70. Great picture, don't know if I would've liked to be inside when it came back to earth though. |

Cobase: The mudguards came with mine and I
'em! If the car didn't come with them, I would have bouGhT them anyway. They keep debris from hitting the back side of my fenders, plus they make the GT look a little sportier.RRRGT
